PTSD
by Jay MacLeod
Steve's had it tough since getting back.
He told me about it when we were drinking: the improvised explosive device, and how he woke up in a German hospital.
The cyber-arm was twice as strong as the original.
"It's a trial," he said. "The docs say the software is hyper-responsive."
"Hell Steve," I said, "You got an upgrade."
He smiled nervously and sipped his jack-and-coke.
"This goddamned arm knows what I'm thinking before I do."
One night we were sitting around and there was a terrible scream. Steve's cyber-arm ripped the fingers from his opposite hand.
Then it went for Steve's throat.
