Poetry has a mystical power for me that always seems just out of my grasp. Chrissy Davis, our awesome poetry editor, selected poems for this issue that once again left me breathless as I searched and created images for them, and as I put together the pages of heart wrenching poems that made me cry and laugh.
And a theme developed during those days of poetry and images. A theme of dreams. But these dreams are far from sweet. There are dreams of dark demons hiding in our sub-conscious, waiting until we are weak or until we drop our guard. These nightmarish dreams will then haunt us until we are driven mad.
In John C. Mannone’s poem “Dreamers” we are urged to dream of beauty before it vanishes. Stephen P. Inzunza, in his “Dreams After Sunday,” fill his words with broken promises and death.
So many great poems. And for each of these poems, Brandon Rucker has added his own touch of magic with his music. Read the poems, let their words seep under your skin, let the images merge and blur, and enjoy Brandon’s music.
Let your liquid imagination take over.
