Liquid Imagination

Updated August 24, 2010

Liquid Imagination leads the way with a new artform, merging imagery, words and audio. We seek out fine art, photography, and digital art to enhance your poem or story. We also use the skills of a professional anchorman, Robert Eccles, who reads all the fiction, and a professional musician, Brandon Ruckers, who interprets all poetry through his music. Liquid Imagination is where audio, visual and literary arts bleed together as one.

Liquid Imagination accepts ALL FANTASY, ALL SCIENCE FICTION, and ALL HORROR, as well as LITERARY fiction.

Starting with Issue 8, to be published at the end of January 2011, we now pay $5.00 per story, flash or poem.

Please use our submission forms at Submishmash for all submission. Registration with submishmash and submission to Liquid Imagination Online are free: Submit to Liquid Imagination Online

SPECULATIVE FICTION: We are looking for great stories - fantasy, science fiction or horror. We want fantasy creatures and impossible worlds.  We're shooting for short stories up to 3,000 words (our number one preference), but will consider stories above 5,000 words if they knock our socks off.

DIGITAL POETRY and FLASH: Liquid Imagination is seeking poetry, prose or flash that will be accompanied by the author's reading of the piece, along with an anmimated sequence of images (images will be selected by the LI staff). The piece should be between 50 and 200 words and may be of a speculative fiction, mainstream or slipstream genre. For selection purposes, please send us the written piece only. Once we have made selections, we will request an audio file, so the author will need to have a way to record herself/himself reading the piece. Instruction on how to send the audio file to the editors will then follow. The audio file of the reading must be clear, or we will have to reject the piece.

LITERARY FICTION: Liquid Imagination seeks intense, existential, quality stories of a literary nature above and beyond the speculative fiction we publish. It DOES NOT need fantasy or surrealistic themes. Please send literary fiction to liquidimagination@gmail.com

POETRY: Your poetry can encompass an inanimate object, an animal, musical instrument, faerie, demon, alien world influencing our modern world, or the embodiment of intangible things such as Death or Time. We accept a wide variety of poetry - speculative, horror, modern fantasy, literary, slipstream.

Give us INTENSITY with high EMOTION in your writing and bring AWE to readers.

Please send submissions single-spaced, with one space between paragraphs, no indentions.  The rest will be taken care of by editorial staff.  Those willing to workshop stories/poems that aren't quite right will have greater chances of getting in.  Potential contributors stating such will be examined closely.

Deadlines: We publish once every four months, on the last day of the following months:

•    September
•    January
•    May

In order to be considered for a given issue, creative submissions and advertisements must be received by the ides of the month prior to the publication date (August 15th, December 15th, and April 15th).

Thank you VERY much!!
