American Zoetrope is not affiliated in any way, shape or form with Liquid
Imagination. However, American Zoetrope has been such a godsend and blessing
to all of us at Liquid Imagination, that we felt in our hearts that we had to tell the
world about Zoetrope Magic. We also received permission to promote this
godsend.
You see, Francis Ford Coppola began American Zoetrope for directors, producers,
writers and actors. It soon became a place to pit your best stories against the
work of others for review, critiques and analysis. And it’s all free! Within
American Zoetrope, hundreds of tiny offices popped up. One such office is Liquid
Imagination, dedicated to promoting the quality artwork, fiction and poetry of
others. It does this through the online publication of the same name. You’re
reading it now. We promote artists like Martin Waugh and Justin Abraham, while
at the same time promote fantastic writers like AJ Brown and megastars like Gary
Braunbeck. There is poetic genius from poets like John Mannone and Theresa
Newbill breathing within these webpages.
Within the private web office of Liquid Imagination, tucked within the magic of
American Zoetrope, stories are workshopped, line-edited and polished. These
stories are submitted to numerous publications, many of them finding homes.
Poets post their work. Contests are held between writers. There is a degree of
enthusiasm and zeal, because within this office we believe we’re all in this
together. We also believe that we are taking over the world, one mind at a time.
Don’t try to tell us different! :-)
When one person receives a publishing credit at a paying market ANYWHERE,
there is a loud YIPPIE posted in the private office, because we are in this together,
and we share and feed on one another’s enthusiasm. Some weeks there are 4, 6,
sometimes even 8 YIPPIES posted. Joe Lansdale (7-time Bram Stoker recipient)
has stopped by to answer questions about his work and to help writers understand
the creative process. New writers are encouraged and pointed the right direction,
and veterans are welcome to “throw down” with members in a friendly yet
competitive way.
There is magic in the office, pure magic that is contagious. It starts as a feeling in
the pit of your stomach and it sounds like I can! Pretty soon you’re involved,
workshopping your own fiction, posting a poem or critiquing someone else’s story.
Like many new writers that have joined the office, you find yourself beginning to
get acceptances for short fiction – you’re getting published! And that very first
publishing credit is a joy shared by all!
It’s addicting! It’s magic! It’s liquid imagination, and it can only be found at
American Zoetrope!
At American Zoetrope, you can find one of the best literary magazines around
called American Zoetrope: All Story. There is Francis Ford Coppola’s own brand of
wine which has made the owner of this publication happy more than a few times.
The wine is at the Coppola Winery. Mr. Coppola presents his new film ventures
such as Tetro.
You can also find magic in the private offices such as Liquid Imagination. If you’re
serious about writing or publishing, why don’t you join American Zoetrope? Then
look up Liquid Imagination and ask to be invited. If you’re serious about writing,
then we’re serious about you.
Then you can kick back with fine wine from Mr. Coppola’s vineyard, enjoy Tetro or
read an intellectually stirring tale out of All Story. American Zoetrope is a magic
place where dreams come true, fantasies are shared, and anything can happen.
This issue of the online publication of Liquid Imagination honors American Zoetrope
and Francis Ford Coppola, a man who is intimately acquainted with dreams.
See you there.
